It was a part of the garden he never cared about, not that he had much time for gardening in the first place. A few bushes of lavender, coming from the family garden, were the only thingS he really attempted to keep alive around the old house they had bought to Uruchi and Teyaki. It was not as modern as most of Konoha houses, and it required more work, but it had the humble nobility of traditional houses, and the pride that the Uchiha Clan had invested in their home two generations ago. The fact it was placed on the border of the compound, quite isolated and near a wood that led to the outside of Konoha only had advantages.
However, it was in the shadow of the house, between the roots of a respectable maple that he found an unexpected treasure. Playing with the roots, and well protected by the tree, a small field of myosotis, also called Forget-me-not, was discreetly offering its trembling blue petals to the hesitant spring. He reached down and picked a strand of the small blue flowers.
That pleasant surprise made him smile, and in such moments, he always missed his cousin, accustomed to show him all the good things he ever found. But Itachi was in mission for few weeks now, and only the black kitten, leaping clumsily in the flowers was there to share his discovery. Good things always had a bitter taste when those you wanted by your side were possibly wounded or dying, in a place you were not even allowed to know.
So, when he felt the chakra he knew as his own, and when the other Uchiha’s voice filled the air, he wondered one moment if he wasn’t caught in a daydream.
‘May I have it?’
Turning back, to face the other man, he blinked a moment, observing him attentively, looking for any kind of trick, wounds, or evidences that didn’t allow him to open the door of his mind to the happiness he felt at the presence of his cousin, alive…alive…, and safe, at least in appearance.
"Sure…", He murmured, closing the distance between them, still observing Itachi closely, a bashful smile slowly making its way upon his lips, with every step crossed. "Okaerinasai…" He said with a low voice, "I do not have a crown for you, but hopefully, this is acceptable for now." He gently tucked a strand of Forget-me-not behind the younger’s ear, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "Are you wounded ? Should I accompany you straight to the hospital before anything, like the last time ?" He teased, though, he knew it was very possible. "Or should I make you some tea, and those Okonomiyaki I promised before your departure?"

I love when my partners remember small things about my character that came up in a thread, like a favorite flavor or scent. It makes me smile that they pay attention to something so small that means so much.
